About Me:

I am a professional Pet Groomer. I have been grooming for 28 years. This Blog is a kind of diary of my work. I wish I had started years ago, writing some of the experiences I have had while grooming. Most days are fun, some can be sad, some can be just down right crazy. If you are a pet owner and come across this blog, I hope it helps you understand how your pet is groomed. If you are a Pet Groomer, I hope you can relate to some of the stories. Maybe even learn a grooming tip or can leave a friendly grooming tip for me. There is always something to learn, no matter how long you have been grooming.

Grooming With A Head Cold.....

REALLY SUC*S!

Runny nose.

Can't breath.

Sneezing every 5 minutes.

Hair sticking to your face.

Nose raw.

Hair constantly in your mouth because it is hanging open to breath.

Forget face mask...I already can't breath.

One more day of work.

Boy, I hope that there are no double coated dogs tomorrow. :/

Happy Grooming, MFF...I hope.

  1. Hope you get well soon Lisa. It's not fun to work when you are not well. Take care, May

  2. I hope you feel better soon, Lisa! Grooming while any kind of sick really stinks.

  3. Awwww I'm so sorry:( I just got through almost three weeks of working with a cold (the longest cold ever!!). It is the worst, especially because the cold would probably run it's course much faster if we could stay home in bed for a few days instead of grooming! Hang in there, take lots of Zinc and Vitamin C!

  4. Thanks mayw16, Jennifer, and Mindy,
Feeling a lot better today. Of course we had 4 double coated dogs in today. Two were blowing their coats big time. Wouldn't it figure? :/

  5. You should try some tiger balm under your nose, it sure clears my sinuses! I wore a facemask to school today, and I have an Aussie, Bernese, and Golden R. on Thursday, hopefully I make it through! Have you ever thought about implementing a discussion board? That would be great to be able to chat with the other groomers that are on your blog, I'm a bit scared to go to the large websites.

If possible, would it be okay to have a post about puppies? I just had my first puppy in yesterday (ever, all I've had are older dogs, even my dogs I got when they were older). I really went slow and took my time, but I don't know what to do when the puppy starts biting my hand out of fear of the clipper. I kinda let him gnaw on me, since I didn't want to scold him, and tried to distract him with treats but it didn't work :/ I ended up hand scissoring him, but I would love more info on how to work a puppy into grooming.

    1. Hi Zhitong,
One of the reasons that I started my blog was because I got tired of some of the cattiness on the boards. Most boards do a pretty good job of keeping anything from getting out of hand, but unfortunately there are groomers out there that can be mean if you don't groom the way that they think you should groom. I once had my head handed to me on a platter for commenting that I did not agree with shaving double coated dogs. It really turned me off of commenting on the boards. I started my blog to show how I groom. If other groomers want to read it..fine, if not..fine too. :)
I will work on that puppy post for you. :)

  6. Thank you! I hope I did a good job on the puppy, it's just easier for me to work on difficult dogs, since I do know how to go about that, but puppies are foreign to me!
